Successful Collaboration Leads to Employment Opportunities in Moonbi

On a mid-January morning, BEST Employment's Tamworth office received a request for assistance from a local agricultural property owner in Moonbi, located approximately 35 minutes from Tamworth. The owner sought to fill a vacancy for a farm hand role. After carefully considering the role’s requirements and the opportunities it presented, the Employment Specialist (ES) anticipated potential challenges in finding a suitable candidate.
A few days later, one of our Workforce Advisors, from the same BEST Employment office, suggested Angel—a candidate located in Barraba. Angel had aspirations of working on a farm, particularly driving tractors, making her a strong contender for the role.
However, two potential obstacles arose in the placement process. First, Angel did not hold a driver’s licence, and second, she did not currently have access to accommodation in Moonbi. After discussing these matters with the property owner, our ES was reassured that neither would be an issue. The owner confirmed that a driver’s licence was not required for this role and offered to rent a self-contained cabin to the successful candidate.
Encouraged, the ES reviewed Angel’s resume, which highlighted her suitability for the job. The property owner agreed to invite Angel for a visit to the farm, during which she would meet the team, view the facilities, and see the on-site accommodation. Since Angel lacked transport, the ES approached the Area Manager to explore how BEST Employment could help facilitate the meeting. With approval, he offered to personally drive Angel from Barraba to Moonbi and back, a gesture that Angel deeply appreciated.
The following week, Angel, toured the farm. The visit provided a comprehensive overview of the property, the accommodation, and the job’s responsibilities. The result was a positive outcome. Not only was Angel offered the farm hand position, but the added benefit of renting the on-site cottage provides independence and convenience.
The property owner has expressed delight at welcoming his enthusiastic employee, while Angel is thrilled to realise her dream of working on a farm. This success reflects BEST Employment’s dedication to going the extra mile for both jobseekers and employers. It underscores the value of collaboration, proactive problem-solving, and community-focused support.
