The BEST Community Shed proudly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting essential emergency services by donating $10,000 to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s 2025 Drover’s Run. This contribution sponsored the vehicle of local participants Tanya and Mitch Orchard, who took part in the iconic fundraising adventure.

Each year, the Drover’s Run brings together a convoy of vehicles travelling through outback Australia, all with one mission—to raise vital funds and awareness for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. The event is not only a challenging and memorable experience for its participants, but also a crucial fundraiser that helps ensure the Helicopter Service can continue providing life‑saving care to communities across Northern NSW.

As a heartfelt thank you for the Shed’s generous support, Tanya Orchard visited BEST to present Kerrie Anne Dettmann, Head of Community Services & Social Enterprises, with a beautifully framed photograph commemorating their partnership in this year’s event. The gesture symbolised the strong community spirit and shared purpose behind the Drover’s Run.

Funds raised through the 2025 Drover’s Run directly support the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, which assists more than 1,600 people each year across the region. Every dollar helps ensure the service remains on call 24/7, ready to respond to emergency situations and transport those in critical need.

BEST Community Shed is honoured to contribute to an organisation that plays such a vital role in protecting and supporting communities across Northern NSW and looks forward to continuing this meaningful partnership in the years ahead.
