Success Story: Empowering Employment in Walgett

Share

At BEST Employment, we take pride in providing personalised and flexible support through Disability Employment Services (DES) to help individuals prepare for, find, and sustain meaningful employment.

Recently, our dedicated team supported a Participant near Walgett who had been a stay-at-home parent for 20 years. Relocating to a remote area presented unique challenges, but with her determination and our tailored engagement approach—including Participant Marketing Plans, Key 3 documents, site tours, and job carving—we set out to turn her aspirations into reality.

While studying Community Services and navigating life without personal transport, she expressed a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Recognising her potential, we identified a suitable opportunity as a Women's Court Advocacy Worker. To ensure her success, we provided coaching for interview techniques, and she was soon offered the position.

However, the challenge of transportation remained. BEST Employment funded a second-hand vehicle, enabling her to commute to work. Thanks to these combined efforts, she successfully secured a 26-week employment outcome.

Today, the Participant is thriving in her role and regularly shares her excitement about how her job has transformed her life. For the first time, she is able to afford school excursions for her children, a milestone that brings immense pride and joy.

This story highlights the empowering impact of DES and the BEST Employment team's unwavering commitment to creating life-changing opportunities for job seekers and sustainable solutions for employers.
