For Emmaleen, the previous school term was marked by difficulties. She faced suspension and had to overcome the steep challenge of re-engaging with her education. Her initial return to school was restricted to attending classes until recess, signifying a fragile start to her reintegration. At the same time, she grappled with rebuilding her self-belief and navigating how to re-establish her place in a structured learning environment.

Enter the Helping Hands program, designed explicitly for youth facing barriers to education and employment. The program’s tailored guidance and personalised mentoring became the foundation of Emmaleen's progress. With unwavering support from Simone, her mentor and a vital pillar of the initiative, a structured plan was laid out to help her not just stay on track academically but also grow personally.
