The Helping Hands Program is a 12-month program aimed to support First Nations youth that have been previously incarcerated or are at risk of becoming incarcerated by supporting their cultural, emotional, and social well- being, reducing offending behaviours and providing education and advocacy.  Assistance can include:

  • Cultural activities/programs
  • Transport to relevant appointments
  • Housing support
  • Licensing and Identification
  • Engagement in education
  • Employment assistance
  • Financial/Life skills
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Social engagement
  • Parenting and relationships
  • Legal – police/court support

Program Eligibility:

  • Indigenous 
  • Aged between 12 and 20 years
  • Previously incarcerated or are at risk of becoming incarcerated (contact with police)
  • Referral based program (Family cannot refer in)
