About BEST

BEST Employment Ltd (BEST) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a range of employment and community services throughout the New England, North West and Far West Orana regions of NSW and the Darling Downs and Granite Belt regions of Southern Queensland.

Our experienced and passionate staff work very hard to achieve our vision, that ‘BEST will develop and support independent, thriving, and resilient communities throughout regional NSW and QLD’ by delivering a high-quality service that empowers thousands of people each year to address employment, mental health, training and other welfare-related needs.

Our vast range of programs and services target people with a disability, jobseekers, employers, Indigenous community members and our youth.

As a dynamic company based in regional Australia, BEST understands the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by rural communities. We actively pursue projects and collaborative partnerships that result in innovative solutions aimed at overcoming these challenges, thereby building a more resilient and sustainable community.

Our status as a Public Benevolent Institution and registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) assists us in this process and keeps our focus on projects that assist disadvantaged and impoverished sectors of our community.

Our other community initiatives include BEST Nursery, BEST Food Garden, Linking Together Centre, BEST Community Connections and BEST Community Shed.

See our Community Section for information on our initiatives.

Our Values

Our Story

BEST Employment has a proud history of providing high-quality services across communities in rural and regional NSW and QLD.

1978

The original forebear of BEST was a part of the Sapphire City Youth Committee (CYSS) which was established to provide services to unemployed young people in the Inverell district. It was originally managed by three staff members on a single site.

1990

Inverell CYSS changed its name to Inverell Skill Training Inc. and continued to deliver employment-related services such as Skillshare, New Work Opportunities and Job Club.

1997

Inverell Skill Training Inc. registered BEST as a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee to enable the expansion of services throughout the region.

Present Day

BEST’s core objectives have not changed and still exist to positively change lives, champion social inclusion and alleviate disadvantaged within its communities. BEST now employs over 250 staff from 20 permanent offices.
