Our status as a Public Benevolent Institution and registered charity with Deductable Gift Recipient (DGR) status assists us in this process and keeps our focus on projects that assist disadvantaged and impoverished sectors of our community. Our initiatives include, but are not limited to:
BEST Harvest Labour links job seekers with growers in the horticulture industry in the Granite Belt of Queensland.

The BEST Community Shed is a holistic social initiative, where community-donated clothing, furniture, homewares and other items are sold by a passionate team of volunteers through our shopfront in Inverell. The Shed also has a workshop where people learn new skills, gain confidence and find pathways to employment and self-awareness though making new pieces of furniture and upcycling other items under mentoring and guidance, also sold through the shop. All proceeds from the shop and all BEST-made furniture are then donated back to the community through direct donations and the BEST Shed assistance office, helping people who are facing tough times.
Where did BEST Start?
BEST Employment has a proud history of providing high quality services across communities in rural and regional NSW and QLD.
The original forebear of BEST was a part of the Sapphire City Youth Committee (CYSS) which was established to provide services to unemployed young people in the Inverell district. It was originally managed by three staff members on a single site.
Inverell CYSS changed its name to Inverell Skill Training Inc. and continued to deliver employment related services such as Skillshare, New Work Opportunities and Jobclub.
Inverell Skill Training Inc. registered BEST as a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee to enable the expansion of services throughout the region.
BEST’s core objectives have not changed and still exist to positively change lives, champion social inclusion and alleviate disadvantaged within its communities. BEST now employs over 200 staff from 18 permanent offices.
