BEST in the Community

BEST supports initiatives that further its mission to eliminate disadvantage in the communities we operate. Our BEST in the Community Program provides organisations, groups and charities with the opportunity to apply for funding to run activities or programs that will assist impoverished or otherwise disadvantaged people within our local communities.

Who can apply?

You are eligible to apply for BEST in the Community funding if:

  • You are an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation or association
  • Your project / activity is auspiced by an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation or association
  • Applications from schools will be considered if the proposed project or activity strengthens links to or provides benefit to the broader community.

Round 1 Funding

Thank you to all the community organisation who submitted applications in Round 1.
The successful applicants were:

The Ascent Group – AccessFest. The AccessFest is a public music performance, integrating mainstream musicians and young people with a disability in the Armidale community.

Inverell District Community Access Bus. The Inverell District Community Access Bus received funding to have seat cushions made to elevate the seats of their bus. The cushions will allow the elderly users of the bus easier access into and out of the seats.

Tingha Community Kitchen – TCK – Fun, Food, Friendship. Tingha Community Kitchen will be a place for groups of 6-8 people to meet in a secure, safe environment to plan cook and share a 2 course meal weekly.

The Men’s Shed Moree – Wellness & Learning Project. The project will provide access for members to gain certification in First Aid, OH&S courses as well as health workshops and activities such as exercise programs, dietician, mental health issues, and drug and alcohol issues.

Inverell Breast Cancer Support Group – Bosom Friends Respite Days. Provide a day of pampering to people suffering from cancer, to help alleviate the feelings of stress and in some cases loneliness that cancer treatment can cause.
